Partly cloudy Brisk west wind,  Tue feeling very badly today.  Helen came in  morning remaining to dinner and all day.  Hitch up after dinner - 3 PM - and drive out to Gaines' and Loxa.  Jo reports that has hedge about half trimmed.  John has hired to Sam Berry by month.  Is staying at Janesville, Cumber. Co. ILL.  I drove down to Loxa for Clara.  She  and Daisy riding to town with me.  Roads good.  Slightly rough except gravel.  Get pretty cold going out.  Clear day with W to SW wind.  Helen here to bedtime.  Maggie and Buddie took her way home.  Horses in pasture made raid on my buggy today.  We got home about 7 P.M.  Gobed  9.30 P.M.  ( shorthand)

Cloudy SW wind and snowing late.  Clara washes  Her father leaves today for Indiana.  Daisy called to see Clara AM.  I quit tobacco for sure last night.  Went up after grub toward night.  Get Capon 75 and steak 20 at Pinnells, Cr. 95 c.  Tue, Maggie and Marie went to church at night.  Lois Shortess has the measles.  After dinner I got ready to go to Loxa but decide to wait till tomorrow.  Snow falling much of forenoon about an inch falling mostly disappearing P.M. sunshine.  Gobed 10 P.M.

Clear NW wind.  Clara ironing P.M.  Tue went to church and to lecture afterward.  Wall pays me 10.00 on last month's rent and will pay bal. 40.00 tomorrow, is talking again about selling out.  Tue and self bought several lots of soap and  starch.  Too cold for me to drive out to Loxa but hitched up mare after dinner.  Clear day with NW wind.  Play Cinch at night  Gobed  10.30 P.M.

Clear,  N.W. wind.  Phebe making shirt waist.  Hitch up to go to Loxa but decide to wait till P.M.  eating early dinner.  Get Mrs. Gaines' bucket and towel.  Their clock not yet repaired.  Get to Gaines  2 PM  the the two Mrs. Gs drove to Loxa.  John and wife there.  Look over meadow north of orchard but can't tell much about it yet  start home 5.30 P.M.  Clear day N.W. wind.  Roads first rate.  Tue feeling badly but went to church at night.  Marie Clara and self play cinch  Gobed  10 PM.

Mostly clear S.E. wind.  Began snowing  A.M. from E.  Caught big rat in trap in old house A.M.  Got a letter from Mrs. Perrill - first since they got home.  Pay up Pinnell for stuff got there last Mon. night 95 cts.  Occasional light snow till along in P.M. where it began to snow in earnest, stopping before dark.  About 3 in damp heavy snow fell  Calf from Brown cow due Mar 12 likely to appear sooner.  Clara finished ironing.  Tue sewing but feeling badly.  East.  Play cards with the girls at night.  gobed 10 P.M.

Cloudy SE wind sifting of snow in night.  Clara got up and made fires.  Mrs. P and Kate Perrill left AM. promising to come and spend night with us.  Kate and Mrs. Bacon called P.M. on way to Dale Woodworths  funeral which will be tomorrow.  They left their team here and  went to Franks.  The reading Circle was in session when K & B called and Tue did not seem them.  Cloudy all day snow turns to heavy rain and sleet P.M. continuing til after dark.  Play cinch at night.  Gobed   9.30 P.M.

Cloudy N.W wind.  Frozen up and snowing lightly  Everything covered with ice  Clara helping Tue make shirt.  K & B call for team and stay for dinner starting home about 2.30 P.M.  I had bad toothache all last night which still continues.  Bacon is going to move in a few days to near Humbolt  Clara left at night to be gone till Monday noon.  I went up town for shave.  Didn't get it.  Fell down and hurt knee over at Court House.  Tue and Buddie over at Grove's at night.  Kate Perrill called P.M. and said she might be here to stay all night.  She didn't come.  Mrs. Perrill over at Bains.  Decide to quit chewing tobacco tonight  Gobed  10 P.M.

Cloudy wind South changing to SW and at night W.  Warm spring day with strong wind  Roads very bad but drying  fast.  John Snider sent teams up for load of Simons things and Warren took another load.  Simons is now moved into Wes Deckers and will go into my home as soon as Milt goes out.  Tue makes Maggie stay home from school AM.  Gobed 10 PM.

Snowing, NEasterly wind.  Got a letter from Aunt Mary Hildreth this morning.  Sell half cord wood to  Martin.  Lou Reynolds hauls me  a load of wood.  Still got sore throat and go up town only little while toward night  Snow till 9 or 10 AM wind gets in N.W. grows colder at night.  Gobed 9.30

Cloudy and snowing Slept late, was wokened by carrier with speed delivery letter form Phebe telling that she had lost draft $36.00 sent her the other day write to Phebe and tell Wheatly of the loss.  Mrs. Perrill and Kate came AM. and will stay a few days with us.  Kate is running a millinery store at Wellsville, O.  Snow continued all day from the S.E. about 5 in. damp and heavy.  Clara went up after chickens &c. at night.  I slept on lounge in sitting room.  Gobed 12 oclock after reading an hour or two.  Ground hog didnt see his shadow today.

Cloudy and raining  wind S.E. quite heavy rain most of A.M. and snow settles fast.  Mort and Kate over to dinner and stay till night.
Take two exposures of party in sitting room after dinner.  Sure came out came in P.M.  Kate Perrill not very well.  Wind got round to west toward night and grows colder.  Clara went to church at night.  I slept on lounge going to bed at 11 P.M. Alarm of fire  P.M.  H. Hildreth called PM but did not stay.

Cloudy weat wind.  Kate Perrill and her mother went over to Groves after dinner  Methodist Aid Society meeting there.  Send check to A. Richter for coal 21.53  Have about enough to last till Mar. 1.  They move the P.O. yesterday to NW room in court house from Jefferies building on S. side.  Take picture of Clara in kitchen P.M.  Helen here toward night  Develop three plates at night.  Tue and Marie over at Groves.  Clear day N.W. wind.  quite slipery on side walks.  Mrs. P. and Kate stay at Groves at night.  Gobed 10.30 PM. _

Clear N.W. wind.  House rather cool this morning Clara washing.  Get some chemicals and make up new solutions after dinner and spend P.M. at that and toning some cards  Maggie out at night.  Rest of us play cards tell had time.  Clear N.W. cold day.  Gobed 10 P.M.

Mostly clear.  Sprained knee very bad in Kitchen this morning.  I was quite painful all day.  Jim Pugh mends buggy shafts P.M. leaves picture of Laura and family  they are staying at Grove's Tue at Groves at night girls and self play cards  Mostly clear day.  Owen Curd was buried today.  Gobed 11 P.M.

Cloudy and light snow wind easterly.  My knee better this morning.  Clara got up and made fires.  Clara ironing all day.  Tue making shirts for me.  John Simons called about noon and we settle for hauling corn. 10.35

5.70 for S 4.65 for Warner. 207 bush.  Still have crib of about 150 bu at Simons place.  Give him lot of old Country Gentleman.  Clear up lot of old spoiled plates and tone some prints P.M.  Miss Perrill and Kate came and remain all night.  Mort and Kate over till 9 P.M.  Self bad toothache at night and didn't sleep much.  Cloudy day S.E. wind  Gobed 9 P.M.  Drop line to J.M. Stevens regarding mortgage.

9.  Wednesday.  The wind and snow goes everywhere.  Tue sewing on gingham aprons for girls.

11.  Friday.   Patch up broken window.  H.G. and H. here to dinner.

12.  Saturday.  Baby cried good deal in night and has caught bad cold.

13.  Sunday.  Tue not very well .  Self messing with paints.  This thought by many to be the mildest winter ever known here.  The grass is hardly killed.  The ground has not been frozen more than two or three inches and there has not been more than two or three inches of snow altogether. 

14.  Monday.  Tue not very well.  Fannie Coon here at night.

Cloudy and damp Wind S.E.  Scott Dowling came after city post auger which I have had borrowed since last fall.  Helped Tue make mess of crax.  Four men were here after me  for work on tie job today.  Mrs. Feagan  was over all afternoon.  Damp day S.E. wind, light wind occasionally P.M. and at night.  Tue not feeling very well.  Wind rises at night and grows warmer.  Go bed 9 P.M.

Chamber and they sew up there a good deal.  Cloudy day with fresh NW. wind.   I didn't go up town.  Tue went up late P.M. for grub also get book for me at library Bride of L.  Light snow flurrying in night.  Gobed 9 P.M.

Clear westerly wind Special election today  for  State Senator  (I) acted as clerk on the board in this precinct  Monroe got got 40 maj. in this precinct and 78 in township.  I came (?) to dinner and supper.  Got done before 10 PM.  Uncle John brought in 3 pigs which he put in the corn crib.  Pleasant day S. wind.  Gobed 10.30 PM.

Clear S.2.  Rhoda got here to wash before Tue was down.  She washed and did other work till noon staying to dinner.  Tue attends sewing party at Lulu Dorsch's.  Hitch up about noon but did not use mare till near night.  She made bad break in turning on W. side and came near accident.  Tue  got home before 6.  She spent evening at Grove's.  Mostly clear day hazy.  some cloudy at night.  The warmest day for many weeks.  Gobed 8.30

Cloudy N.2.  Dark morning.  Light fog.  Tue goes out to Helens for day on 10 car, returns at 5 P.M.  Paid water rates 6.00 to July 1 to girl yesterday.  I hitch up noon but did not use the mare.  Ray comes at 4.  There is not much choring to do now and we are thinking of letting him go.  Mostly cloudy damp day.  the sun just shone once about 10 AM.  Light northerly winds.

Cloudy. E.2. foggy.  Tue tries another batch of bread.  She went to RC at Mrs. Reats P.M. It began light rain 2 P.M.  I get shave at Brown's P.M. pd.  Met Uncle Billy Whalan.  He is 82.  Also meet Chas Steigman, Geo Steigman better and able to be uptown.  I hitch up at  noon but didn't drive on account of the rain.  Light showers till dark with a little thunder about 4 P.M. Ray did chores leaving basement lights on again till bedtime.  Tue intended to attend reception at Rev. Piers but did not feel able to go.  She also had tickets for show at Opera House but didn't  use them.  cloudy day E to S. wind and .10 in rain P.M.  Gobed 9

Light meter today. 720.000.  they made mistake as it read 730.000.  Tue ironing AM.  Jo Maffett calls wanting room.  Tue went uptown toward night and from there to Hats where she spent the evening till 9 oc.  Mostly cloudy with  very high westerly wind all day and at night.  Gobed 9.30

Part cloudy.  W. 3. ice 1/4.  Tue got long letter from  Buddy yesterday and one from  Phebe this morning.  She expects to start home Sunday from Ann Arbor, Mich.  Will come via Chicago.  Too cool for me to try Loxa trip.  I hitch up about noon and drove down to  Whalens elevator.  Order load Linton coal.*  Tue wrote girls mailing letters PM.  Learn that Dick Stoddert (Harry's) is dead at Kankakee.  Order at Geo Gray's pair shoes as have been using for 12 years.(sic)  Mostly clear day Southwesterly light winds.  Go bed 9.

Partly clear. at sunrise.  Wind S.E.  Fresh wind all night probably S.E.   Ed. Eastin calls for step ladder.  Finish up the  pork and sausage in  morning.  Bert was in and ate dinner. Uncle John in town.  Tue went up town PM to get some things for Christmas.  Renew  note with H.G. 65.00 for 90 days.  Thought there might be some lumber come up but didn't hear of any.  The roads are probably pretty bad.  Mostly cloudy day,  wind mostly south.  Tue not feeling very well.  Took medicine at night.  Uncle John says Aunt Deal** is worse than usual.  Mrs. Davis over at night, she is making dress for Ma.  Gobed 10.30

**Aunt Deal is Uncle John's wife and Tue's mother, Eliza Cordelia Amidon.  Sadly, Cordelia was marked insane in several census.  In this entry she is also referred to as Ma.  Cordelia was beloved by the family.

Part Cloudy.  E.1. red.  Ice. 1/4 David came 7.  I did not expect him.  Edith Bates called AM. begging.  David  cut  wood till 9 AM after which he raked and burnt leaves and began to take out leaking hydrant at  barn.  When find we have hard job on that.  He worked till 5 PM and will return in morn.  I drove down to R.R. AM looking  found for some coal.  Mostly cloudy day with variable moderate winds.  Weather bureau does not predict rain but it looks a good deal like it.  Tue ironing most of day.  Harman sends us piece of meat by Paul.  Gob 8.30 P

Cloudy wind S. Cloudy all day with S. Westerly wind cleared off about clear after dark. Tell Hibbared to cancel insurance policy on apples.   Bill Pate has been hauling lumber to coal shaft all the week.  Comer claims he can't haul unless I pay extra for it.  The city is wanting lumber badly.  This weather will make good roads in a few days if it does not rain.  Tue fixing over a dress for Phebe.  Won a small turkey in a raffle at Wrights last night.  Gobed 10 PM

9.  Monday, 5.30 AM.  The. 14.  36.  30. = 26 2/3Clear SW.2.  ice 3/4.  This is coldest morning since Mar. 25 when temp was 10.  Furnace leaks so at times am afraid to build all we need.  Jim Turner brought me bushel butternuts P.M. paid 75c.  Grace Sefton called P.M. says her father feels better.  Her brother George Sefton has been here from Ark. for two or three weeks - returned today.  Tue gets letter from Muggs also one from Phebe.  Alfred didn't come was expected.  Mostly clear with Southwesterly strong.  Learn that  Bud Skidmore is dead.  He lived in St. Louis.  Gobed. 1030.

Cloudy, misty Wind E.  Mrs. Davis helping  Tue on dress for Ma.*  Ruth Davis sent off her cocoons today.  I packed them up last night.  A dark day.   Heavy mist from N.E.  raining at times.  Few People in town.  Roads very bad.  Learn that coal shaft is down  about 60 ft.  Phebe has not been to school this week.  Tue feeling some better.  C.G. (him) sick in night from oysters.  Baby had terrible spell of crying in night.  Her front teeth are coming through.  Gobed 9P.M.

Cloudy  Foggy.  Mrs. Rogers comes to iron at 8 AM.  Told Sam Ray yesterday to put my mare on lighter feed at 6.00 per month.  Snider  took Ma home today.  He stopped here but she did not get out.  Harman brings jar butter  8 1/8 lbs. 1.65.  Took out another jar.  Mrs. Davis helping Tue sew in P.M.  Got lot of Couriers with Fannie's notice and sent to the relations.  Harry Holmes has damage case in court.  Trial this P.M.  Geo. Weber over.  Baby still very cross.  Tue seems to feel some better.  Gobed 9 P.M.

W. 3.  Rhoda washes A.M.  Tue puts up a box of peas to send Buddy.  Quite a thunder show last night between 8 and 9 oc.  Rhoda  washes and works till noon.  Mrs. Galbreath did not come as promised.  Tue sends Buddy (and writes to her at night) another box of peas also another  package ~  I did not  hitch up nor go up town.  Helen Ferrish called an hour or two P.M.  Tue up town later.  Muggs down to Lelas at night.  Mostly cloudy with strong N. W. wind.  Go bed 10.

Cloudy.  N.W. 3  Fullers deliver 5 tons coal A.M.  He got stuck at coming  in from back St.  Rhoda ironed P.M.  Muggs and Tue busy getting ready to start for Jeff. City next Monday morn.  Didn't hitch up - too cold at night.  Mostly clear day, strong northerly winds.  Read a while  in Chamber at night.  Go bed 8.30

N.1.  heavy white frost. ice 3/8 in tub.  Coldest morn to date and get good fire in furnace by 8 AM.   Harman phones AM.  Ss will finish 30 a piece tomorrow.  had intended  going out but too cold.  Tue  and Muggs busy sewing &c.  Muggs has  party at night Grace, Dora, Hat, Johnston and others - cards.  Tue sells old cook stove and gets new Majestic range which they put up late evening.  Get 1/2 gal a varnish for furnace.  I drove out to Huffmans late P.M.  Clear day light variable winds.  Gobed 9 P.M.

Cloudy S.1.  Alfred Smith came  mowing on yard till rain stopped him.  It rained much of AM pretty heavy at times with heavy thunder (.65) I  decided not to come up till about noon.  Tue got letter from Buddy.  She has decided not to come up.  I met Parker up town, says P. +P. worked about 3 hours at Loxa AM.  Bill Scott calls for fence Catalogue.  I drove to town P.M. and SW but cut short trip afc (sic)  thunder storm.  Get breeching at Frommel's.  Heavy rain about sunset with much thunder (.55)  All electric lights out till about 10 P.M.  Tue and girls ironing AM and sewing P.M.  Phebe is going to Chicago soon.  My rheuatiz has settled down to bad all time.  The furnace still down.  Gobed 9.  Take mare to Nickles

N.1.  Tue set out her celery plants yesterday.  I drove uptown A.M.  Met Rairdin at P.O.  He wants me to go to ranch and report as to his ranch.  They are putting an iron railing around monument.  Tue got  letter from Buddy, she arrived at Reasor's all right   Phebe went riding with Sue P.M. and Tue went up town.  Mostly clear AM.  Milky blue sky.  Some lazy cummili deloflofi into light thunder showers north.  Light south wind.  Was alone till bed time.  Go bed. 9.30

Clear N.E.1.  The rats have begun to use my trap again.  W.H. Taft was renominated for president last night at Chicago.  After getting R. Herald drove east to Timber.  Thought to find some mushrooms but nothing coming.  I got home about noon.  Parker called P.M. will fix Loxa floor in morning.  Mort and Kate came over P.M. first time for several weeks.  They have both been sick.  Later I drive W +S.W.  getting home before dark.  Mostly clear day.  Light N. E. winds .  Crops are looking well.  Corn small for time of season.  It has to cold for corn.  Gravel roads fine.  Dirt roads dry but pretty rough.  Gobed 10 P.M.

Clear N.W. wind.  Crass didn't come as promised.  Drove down to Young's after my scythe.  Hunt H.G. up to see about short lumber, says he will take it.John Rice re set mares shoes.  Pay him for it 80c.  Caren near setting premises on fire burning some  weeds on hillside.  Whole family out to fight it.  Mrs. Link called P.M.  Mrs. Davis helping Tue sew afternoon.  Drove with M. + P.round town after supper.  Chew tobacco yesterday and today: have quit  Gobed 10.15
