16, Wednesday.  6 A.M.  Ther.  36.  68.  50.  = 51 1/3
Clear E. 2 Light frost. wh.  Ferd  came in at midinight (sic) fr. Mattoon.  Tue sends forgotten  skirt to Phebe and package to our late lodgers//  Rhoda washes A.M. and irons P.M.  Mort works most of P.M. on W.C. inside finishing for the present.  Roosevelt reported getting along all right, but has quit campaigning.  Bill Scott was down again to see about Perkins lot.  Talk with Harry Messick about B.C.  Says 122.00 the highest he knows of.  Maggie out driving with friends all P.M.  there is a great scramble for nuts of all kinds this year.  Clear day light southerly winds.  Gobed 8.30

Charleston, Illinois on October 14, 1912

14,  Monday,  6.15 A.M.  Ther.  34.  64.  48. =48 2/3
Clear N.1.  Light frost.  Ferd is to be married (17. inst. ?)to Florence Purtill when he will return to Oklahoma at Haskell.  Tue and Maggie fix up box for Phebe which send by Exp.  Write Cass Shaver reply to his letter of 10 inst.   Guy Loving began pick peas 10 A.M.  Tue phoned early to Rene that Ferd was here but Charley did not come over to see him.  Charley was to start  to Decatur  from Best's where has office, at 7 AM.  Guy picks and other job till after 4 P.M.  Paid from pocket .75 cts.  Maggie's goods &c came Sat.  She has (been) busy unpacking a good deal today.  Guy cleans up wreck after Mort (?) Co.( burns brush heap).  Alfred came 4 P.M. doing chores &c.  Tue and Maggie busy as bees all day.  Self unwell.  Clear day N.W.2.  Go bed 8.30  Take mare to Nickles.

Charleston, Illinois on October 13, 1912

13,   Sunday. 6  A.M.  Ther.  42.  66.  46. + 51 1/3
Part Cloudy.  N.W.2.  Maggie got Record Herald and later A.M. went with Hat and Ora on a drive taking dinner with them.  Tue went to Church A.M.  I drove S. to Walker Ford which cross and return by Blakeman Bridge get home 3 P.M. after starting at 11 AM.  Mort and Kate over an hour or two, but I didn't see them.  Clear day with light N.W. wind.  A fine day for driving and I got very tired.  I took mare to Nickles.  Ferd Snyder arrived from Oklahoma about midnight.  Gobed 9.30
