Clear. S.E.1. Quackenbush calls wanting to buy old house frame. Tue about sick from medicine taken last night. Tues meddy made her sick all day. She is writing Kate. Mare seems "off" today, think they have fed her too much. I drove 6 P.M. on Westfield road crossing it half mile or so getting home 6 P.M. Mort came over at night to talk about proposed W.C. at SW corner house and thinks can begin it Monday. Mostly clear day light southerly winds. The roads are good becoming dusty. 9 P.M.

September 16, 1912 in Charleston, Illinois
16 Monday, 6 AM. Ther. 64. 82. 68. = 71 1/3
Part cloudy E.1. Some better but no appetite and quite weak. My rheumatism better. Tue getting ready for a function which will occur tomorrow. I hitch up AM but did not drive till toward night when I drove E. to timber roads very dry and dusty. The little shower S at night all gone. I went Westfield Road to Huckabee return N. road. No fungi anywhere. Jack went He can'tuse his left hind leg very well yet. Tue has not heard from Buddy for three or four weeks and is beginning to worry. Tue kills chicken for friends tomorrow. Partly clear quite warm. Gobed 9.30

22 Thursday, 6 AM Ther. 60. 82. 68. =70
Clear. W.2. Get Shave at B's. before breakfast. CR. (pd. 29th). Armstrong calls to sell trees: he didn't sell any. My R. seems rather worse than usually. It is getting into left hip. The last Thursday of Fair charge 50 open. Rhoda washes. Alfred worried with grass a while but too small to cut it. I drive E to woods. They are threshing oats today in that section. Return by Westfield road. Jack was with me and was struck by auto on bridge. Stranger put him in my buggy very seriously hurt. Emmett Fritz called P.M. and will work tomorrow for first time since June. I got home 4.30 in time to escape heavy dash of rain (.25) Put mare in pasture at night. Mostly clear day clouding up 3 to 4 P.M. Go bed 9.30 P.M.

Cloudy SW 3 There was light showers (to) about 3 AM. Threatening morn. I got R.H. and then stat for timber E. but return after getting halfway occasional weather. Storm struck us about noon. Heavy rain with great thunder and lightning for short time. Tue phones no rain at Bert's. After dinner late P.M. drove to woods E. No mushrooms worth bring home. Return by Westfield road, getting home 6.30. Take Mare to Nickles. Phebe out at night with Ora. Go bed 9.30

Cloudy but soon clears off. Several very light showers with some thunder in night. Maggy walked out of bed in night but didn't happen to hurt her. Get another letter from Cuthbert saying he could get 10c rate and would take several cars red oak @17.oo Start down to timber about 9 AM and get back at 4. Mare behaved very well. Some cloudy. Showers in distance. Apparently heavy thunder shower passed south of us about 4 PM. Tue has been ironing today. Air close, cooler night. Gobed 9 PM.
