Cloudy and light rain. Rained most of night pretty heavy. Creek up good deal not so high as a couple weeks ago. Roof at store leaked some last night. Kelly gets sconces down for Miss Kumayer. Pay him order on Bails 1.50 still owe him 1.00. Mastes speaks to me about a lot of fencing. Phebe went up town with me at night; bought some fans bacon beef paid Jonathan Lee 25 c. I owe him. Go bed 10 P.M. Mrs. R. washed.

Cloudy, but soon clears off. Went down to see McMurtrie about sky light, found him at Richters. Have decided to have him make skylight instead of ordering one from Soh. Sell Geo Mather 15o posts @ 6.00 per hundred. Dick Curd owes me bal. of 2.00 he paid me 10.00 today. Jeff & H.G. gave me keys to back doors. Cow got into garden. We let her in the road and she didn't come home. Kate Myers over at night. Go bed 10 A.M.

Clear. Baby was sick in night - severe (?). Cow did not come home, look for her around town and drive out to Uncle John's. Tom Messick went with me. Heard nothing of old cow. Remit 9.00 in full to Bethesda Agcheg in Chicago. Bruner writes that they will receive ties on 20 or 25 inst. Kelly went with me to look for cow toward night. Baby gets better. Clear day and getting warmer. Gobed 10 P.M.

Clear, fresh N.W. wind. Buy some apples of Harriman. 2.00. Try all evening to get some one to haul Mather's posts. T Reccer dreying on them P.M. but , Kershaw forbid him putting them on lot. McM brings up skylight and I give it one coat VF paint toward night. Dave Tremble says tax money has to be paid this week sure will have to borrow some. Jim Robertson pays me 1.25 for wood got last winter. H.G. pays 75c on a/c. Has been very hot today in sun but brisk west wind made it comfortable, change in night about ten oc Gobed 8.30 P.M. M & P went down to Mrs. Royers at night.

Mostly clear. Sudden change in night for cooler from N. or N.E. Maggie went with Miss Johnston to river sketching early. Paint sky light again, McMuries says he will fit it next week. Buy bunch of shingles of Minton on Cr. Deliver Mather's balance of posts and he pays for them $9.00. Baby pretty bad all day something like the flux. Drive a while after supper. Mrs. davis are going to Bloomington on a visit. They will start tonight. Ed Eastin is "off" again has been for several days. Clear and cool Gobed 9.30 P.M.

part cloudy wind S.E. Phebe was sick in night from eating green apples. Baby seems about the same this morning. McCormick glazes skylight in P.M. Sold Kelly 1/2 cord wood delivered. Take 11 sawed ties down to R.R. making 149 altogether there. Paid Batermines 50 cents dray. It rained lightly most of forenoon. I puttied up some cracks in old (?). The (?) building is up about one story. Borrow 50.00 at 2nd Bank for 30 days and pay taxes balance $95.50. Pleasant P.M. and cool. Go bed 10 P.M.~
Tue got meddy for baby of Dr. Patton.

Clear or nearly so started for timber with Kelly about 9 AM. to get some of tools left there. Bob Brown agrees to bring up logs for Weiss rollers this week and will also load lumber. Kirk & Co. have moved out of house in bottom taking my broad ax with them. Baby still complaining but not so bad as she was. Got bottle Rhewfard syp in AM. Kelly and self got home at 6 AM. Today exhausted my supply of spirits of all kinds. Kelly was feeling badly today owing to having been to Mattoon last night. Go bed 9 A.M.

Partly cloudy. Mostly clear day. Myer pays Tue 100 on rent, still owes 142 in last month girls put up their hammock and have company all day. Wrale Cooperation BP Assm. sending 1.40 for Nos 5,6,7,8 & 9 order gal. whiskey from M.&H. (?) X. Buy bacon of Dick Bails qt. blackberries. Had rheumatism in left shoulder P.M. and night. didn't sleep much. Gobed 10 PM Drove with Doc Dunbar AM.

Cloudy and foggy damp morning. Kelly does not work today. (?) paints on front. Kirk and Co. get on their case. (?) Dunbar gave us pint of (?) . Spoke to Alex Briggs about stone on (?) yard. Sprinkle in P.M. Get shaved at Mays Shop Cr. Baby about sick. Tue says it is the hives. Go to bed 1o oc Kate Myers to supper.

Clear. Baby sick all day thought about sending for (?) but didn't, Lear that Urn Ricketts daughter, Ellen, is dead in Terre Haute. Drive while PM with Tue. afterward with M & P and Maurice Larry. Pleasant day and warm. Gobed 9 PM.

Cloudy, heavy rain in night. Self sick in night. Baby better this morning. Kelly works - store A.M. brought down "goods" and some barrels. Worked at home P.M. Make gate to cow lot (?). Mrs. Rogers washed AM. McCormick paints in front AM. didn't work afternoon. Rep. Convention in session at Chicago for past week today nominated Ben Harrison for president and Morton for v. president.

Cloudy, showers in night. McCormick finishes painting. Get cornice and Kelly cleans them off. (?) on old sideboard. There was an alarm of fire last night which proved to be an alarm sounded by authorities in consequence of mob that came on 11 P.M. train to lynch a negro confined in jail for rape committed at Mattoon last week. They hung him at I&StL tank down at depot. (?) deal of talk in town today. Baby was sick and cried a good deal in night. Think it must be her teeth. Tue sent Maggie for Dr. but did not see him. Gobed 9 PM.

Cloudy. Heavy rains in night. Pay John McCormick in full for papering and painting $10.40. Kelly and self work on old side board. Heavy rain most of forenoon. Wind N. heavy winds most of day. Very discourage able. Kelly and self straighten up stairs toward night. This is the longest spell of wet weather we have had for a year or two. Kate Davis over at night. 9.30 P.M.

Cloudy and damp. Heavy rains in night. Wind NW this morning. Baby slept better last night. Miss Kemayer measures room for carpet. She says I may leave ice box in room. Kelly does not work today. Remit Bethesda Spring $3.00 - Knock and self fasten brackets on cornice with wire P.M. Have about decided to send old cow home. Cloudy day NW wind: fine rain P.M. Gobed 10 PM.

Cloudy wind N.E. Kelly mows round house, weeds out strawberries. Get sideboard down to house; begin cleaning up furniture: move far corridor Knock and Sutton helping. Was going to meeting of Electric light Co. at night but decided can't take any stock. Pay Miss Johnston in full for Maggies lessons 13.50. Clears off before noon pleasant day NE wind. Gobed 9 PM.

Clear. Kelly works all day cleaning furniture and wood work. McMurtrie says he will make shelves, Monday sure. Doc Dunbar gives me a bottle of medicine. Miss Kemayer wants possession Tuesday. Pay Kelly check 5.00 still owe him 2.00. Kate Davis over a while at night. Went up town at night for shave and shirts. Gobed 11 P.M.

Clear. No gasoline this morning had to borrow of Ms. Wentz. Kelly went up before noon and pretend to scrub out room doing very poor job. Drive east of town with Tue after dinner . write letter to Ya Hadley about piling his lumber. Roads are dry but somewhat rough. gobed 9 PM----

Clear. Sort out drawers &c up at store. Kelly worked there P.M. brought M.T. Bbls. down home and put in smoke house. H.G. there P.M. and think I made a mistake in renting. Don't know yet what I will do with my furniture. Hot day and uncomfortable night. Gobed 10 P.M. Fatty Knock connects pipe at store.

Some cloudy. Kelly washes lot of bottles and I filled them with Sherry. Get back room partly cleaned out. Kelly helped put some carpet in house P.M. Vol is again after me to rent up stairs Bob Brown up with load of stove wood. Post up his account to date. He's in debt several dollars for rent. Mrs. Norfolk was down to house toward night for an hour or two. McCormick white washes hall. Gobed 10 PM Appearance of rain in PM

Clear with with fresh west wind. S.W. Intended to go to Salisbury early this AM to get description of (?) which wish to change. Rain stopped about 9 AM. Went down to Salisbury and look at record start at 10 and back 2.30. Pay Auf Vaughn 3.00 Kelly 3.00 Friday 4.oo still owe Kelly 2.75 others in full. Steigman speaks to me about Pink house. There was but little rain down in Hutton tp. clear day after rain. 10.30 Got some P. Green for potato bugs.

Clear. S. 2. Get hold backs at Frommel's AM. Didn't hitch to new buggy. It proves to be one of hottest days to date. Paid for Jan. 15. 1914 Buddy was expecting to go to Hindsboro to visit Reasors but they did not come for her as expected. The constant heat is wearing me out and most of my time is spent at rest in the house. Some cloudy P.M. and I drive out west of town pass Helen's and return by Lattas place. Corn seems to be growing. The largest I have seen may be a foot high. Weather bureau predicts rain but little sign of it. I got home 6.30. the roads getting cut up with dust. Pay Sibert's bill to date 3.95. Charley Jones will get some posts up farm say 30. Light variable winds ant hot night. Gobed 9.30
