Part cloudy.  W.1.  Phone I.E.Mc C.O. booze which went and got A.M.  Emmett working for Dorsch near Interurban.  Will work for me Monday.  Hatton went to Loxa on first car and fixes up privy.  Pay him as agreed 3.00 P.M.  H.F.H. called A.M.  I feel very poorly and keep round house most of day.  Hottest day to date.  Farmers are discouraged.  The drouth is burning up the crops. Gardens go with the rest.  Mostly clear.  Some cloudy P.M. Some lightning at night.  Tue get hat and letter also birthday sox from Phebe.  She will be home in about a week.  Go bed 9.30 PM.  Get bale straw.  I.B.M. late P.M.

The Weather for May 1912  (He put the wrong year).  Average daily  .66.8:Max 96 on 31st;  Min. 36 on 10th.  Clouds 39%  Percipitation .51 in.  Mostly  .31 on 26th.  Prevailing winds N. 41/3;  NE 2 2/3;  E 1/3; SE 3;  S .7 2/3;  SW .5 2/3; W. 2 2/3, and NW. 4 2/3 days.  It was pretty dry first of month only half inch of rain drying this month has developed one of worst drouths of late years.  Nothing seems to be growing excepting the trees.  The largest corn is but 3 or 4 in.  Much of corn not yet up.  Oats and meadows will be very light even with plenty of rain.  Pastures  getting very dry.

Partly cloudy.  Start for  timber with Kelly about 7 AM.  getting there at 8.30.  Work all day at fence.  Riley Eastin works with us P.M. and will help next week.  Caught seven curculios on plum trees this morning which are the first except one a week or two ago.  Very few of the plums have been stung as yet and hope the season for curculia is about over.  Got home from  timber about 8 AM.  get letter form Cottedon stating that will have to obtain license in order to close out my stocks of liquor  and no rebate is allowed on stamps.  Paid Re(?) order no. 58 on N.McMorris.  Go bed 10 PM.

Cloudy wind S.E. looks like rain.  Cloudy.  H.G. was down in morning.  Baby broken out with measles or something similar.  Drove down to river to shoot turkey with Bill Kelly at 5 P.M.  got home at 9.  Ate supper down  down there.  Shot several but didn't get any of them.  Tue  churns first time.  the Alumni folks call on Tue for assistance.  Gobed 10 PM.

Some cloudy wind S.E.  Thunder with some rain toward morning.  Sultry day.  Clouds up P.M. and began to rain about 4.30 with much thunder.  Rain continuing into night.  Decker brought half cord wood for  winter.  T. Thelkeld Pd me  5.00 for Bethesda.  Got 6 pans at McNuts on Cr.  Last day of school M &P both went.  Find curculio have been working at the plums.   C not very well today.  Gobed  9.30 PM.

Cloudy W. wind, misty.  Snider was up AM wanting some spirit.  Got brown suit of clothes at Winters, they seem to  suit very well.  Drove over to  Miles over with  Tue toward night.  The Alumni meeting is there  tonight.  Kate  Myers and Kate Perrill called toward night.  Has been mostly clear day.  The  rain last night made roads pretty muddy.  The suit at  Winters cost 30.00 on Cr.  He owes me for 3/4 cord wood 2.25.  Go bed 10 PM~

Clear Very heavy dew.  did not find any curiculio but see they have been at work some.    The old cow has about eaten up her pasture.  She is a great eater but does not give much milk.   The locust

trees are in full bloom.  Grass on meadows looks short owing to dry weather.  All kinds of fruit seems ti be set pretty full.  Lombard plums are about an inch long.  Peach trees have good many on. Corn looks yellow and small but is beginning to grow now.  Cut worms have been very bad this year.  Garden stuff of all kinds is backward on account of early dry weather.  Ground  up scythe and mow grass for cow.  Engage Bill Kelly to help me next week perhaps a latter week.  Uncle John in town.  Sultry day.  Took Tue out to cemetery after  supper to set out some flowers.  Go bed 10 PM.

20.   Sunday.  5.30 AM.  Ther.  50.   70.  56.
Clear with SE wind.  No curculio, think  found one about last Wednesday and a few plums that had been stung then no more.  Had big  mess of mushrooms for breakfast bought of Geo. Modual yesterday.  Went there to perk horse with H.G. and W.S.G. in forenoon.  Talk of going to Indianapolis next Thursday to look round.  Drove while toward night with Maggie and after with Tue and Phebe.  Phebe ran against the  corner of the house and hurt herself, bruised her face and head.  8.30.

  Clear.  wind SE.  Got letter from Birnhuser Bartle, they think I can sell my furniture to Walsh at Mattoon.  Mrs. Rogers washes.  Warren Decker says he will  begin hauling wood tomorrow.   Plant six row white stone potato in bottom.  Winter says will have my suit done Thursday.  Think some of going over to Indianapolis with  H.G. to look round.  Warm pleasant day E. wind go bed 9 PM.

Some cloudy E. wind.  Start for timber at 7 AM with Bill Kelly work till  after  5 P.M. at clearing out fence row.  Hot day down there.  Got home little after 7 PM.  Tue thinks the baby has the measles.  Mrs. Rogers irons.  Pay  R. Rutherford order on N. McMorris for 1.00  Did not have my (?) with me.   Pleasant day, things growing.  Baby was very restless at night.  Gobed 9 P.M.  Decker hauled wood to E.H. Clark.

Mostly cloudy.  Kelly works all day at fence Zeke  Eastin brought Alex Ficher 3/4 cord wood.  Pay him order for hauling $1.35.  Select goods for a suit at Winters. to (?) $30.00.  Have found no curculio yet.  There was light showers this morning  about  sunrise.  Tue set some tomato plants at night.  The ground is very hard and dry hard digging post holes.  Old Mrs. Eastin has been quite sick for a long time.  We slept up stairs last night for first time since last fall.  Mases Kenshaw paid me today for posts and lumber full $16.75  Gobed 10 PM

Partly clear looking like rain.  Kelly and self finished fence at noon, he worked at spading in bottom P.M.  Chanceller was hunting for me all afternoon.  Wants to rent our room for beer club.  I got  to warm today and about sick at night.  Strong S.W. wind all day storm came up fro N.W. about S.W.  about dark  and some rain fell.  Bob Brown hauled 1/2 cord wood to Ed Easton  Mrs. Perrill and Kate called at night.  Gobed 10 PM.

Mostly clear.  Wind SE. as it was yesterday.  Jar plum trees again this AM but have not found any Curculios yet.  Tue feeling badly this morning got ready to start for Timber but meet Handley by (?) walnut lumber sold him mine @ 4.00 for 1st or 2nd and $2.00 for culls.  Started to timber about 2 P.M.  Tue went with me.  Tell  Ruban  Rutherford to go to making rails @ 85c. per hundred.  we got home at 7.30 P.M.  Looked for mushrooms but found none.  They have been  finding.  Thunder shower after dark but not much rain.  go bed  10 PM  order 3 cans Beth from Chicago.

Cloudy W. wind.  Uncle John was in town but would not stay to dinner.  Comer was in  and I paid him  some lumber he had sent up to the city from his from his own timber 35.91 in full.  They are clearing off the Johnston lot getting ready to dig the cellar.  Drove down to the waterworks with Charley MCravey after mushrooms.  He went over the river after them and I remained at the waterworks.  He got some and gave me a mess of them.  Mostly cloudy day clear night.  The children have sore eyes.  Tue thinks they must be taking the measles but M & P have had them.  Phebe has not seemed well for a long time and has not gone to school for a week or two.  Go bed 9 PM.

Clear wind-let-west.  Very heavy dew.  Was very light frost.  Tried  the curculio again this morning but  did not find any.  Kirk & Co. brought up lumber walnut and  fencing.    Say they are going to leave Monday settle up with them owe them bal.  $28.45.  Learn that R.R. inspected .  Clear day Phebe  seems to be breaking out with something like measles supposed she had the measles in Wisconsin four years ago.  Gobed  10 P.M.

Clear S. wind.  Learn that Geo Lee's wife has just died in Chicago.  Kirk and J. Rutherford bring in some old lumber, two loads.  Went down to R.R. with Kirk to see ties.  They have not unloaded yet.  Pay J. Rutherford and Jim Campbell for work done yesterday.  Uncle John was in PM.  says Bim has got home.  Thinks will stay there.  Father later sawdust from round house.  Maggie and Phebe have company P.M. Balten girls.  Gobed 9.30 P.M.

Clear.  S. or SW wind.  Got  up early and jar plum tree for curculio for first time.  Will  try to keep them off this year.  Didn't find any today.  Have about decided to fence off back part of lot and get a cow.  Mrs. Wentz and Louise were over to dinner.  Geo Lee is very sick and not expected to live.  Geo M Cornwall wants to rent my store for the Herald office, offers but 20 per month.  Had to get stuff for E's folks  This is the last   My  U.S. license expires tomorrow.  Take the girls out to Tower's  woods  after dinner and drive round town with Tue a while.  It clouds up in afternoon and began to rain before dark.  wind N.W.  Gobed 10 PM.
