25.  Saturday 5.45 AM.  30.  47.

Father and Tue got up pretty early but I did not get store opened till nearly 7 AM.    Kelly came late and helped all day although about sick I felt badly all day but  no worse than yesterday  Can stand  the grip pretty well if this is all   Neither Kelly nor self went to  our meals today Not because we had not time but we did not want any.  John Simons claims  he has not backed out of  his trade with me and does not intend to.  He wants to move as soon as possible.  Frank Drake was in today to tell me they had got a load of hay!  Another old sheep dead and a number of pigs.  Trade very light till Saturday warmer day  and snow mostly goes off gobed 11 PM. foggy at night.

Foggy AM.  Sun comes out before noon.   Kelly and self try to do cleaning at store and get done about 1 PM.   He is still to do cleaning at store and get done about 1 PM.  He is still feeling badly, self better.  Kelly went down to see Nick and H.G. and reports them both improving.  Warm day mostly  cloudy.  Gobed 11 PM

27.  Monday.  5.30 AM.  Ther.  36.47.  33  =  42

Clear.  H.G. came up this morning  first since last Thursday.  Did not hear from Nick today  Bill Kelly works all the forenoon cleaning out ice box.  Trade dull.  The grip  is  through  Not quite so numerous as it was.  Clear day  Gobed  11 PM.

Mostly clear.  Wind E.  Did not get to store till nearly 8 AM.  Sold a lot empty bottles today to Indianapolis a/c  to date Tue;s check $25.00   Clara's sister called to see her P.M.  Marie at home sick all day.  Tue attended R.C.  P.M.  Jo Davis shod old Queen in front, came down after her.  I did not hitch up till toward night  Mostly clear P.M.  gobed 10 P,M~~

Cloudy and Snowing S.E. about 2 in. heavy snow on ground.  Grows warmer during day.  Saw Shirley and wife on east side  Wall pays rent, allow 25.00 for brickwork and plastering up stairs.  H(?) and Daisy Mitchell call for Clara P.M. - she left Linder's P.M.  Self feeling badly all day and at night.  Marie is home all day but seems better.  Tue and Clara sew late at night  Cloudy day southerly wind  gobed 11 PM

Cloudy, N.W. wind.  Light snow flying at times, but mostly clear day with NW wind.  Self not feeling very well.  Marie about same call in Dr. Starr to see her P.M.  Mrs. Bell borrows Alex's cat.  I went up town for tobacco and tablets toward night.  Daisy called on Clara and they went away together about dark.  Most of snow still lies on ground.  Tue over to Grove's at night  Marie and I play knokonole.  Gobed 9. P.M.

Clear, northerly wind.  Clear.  Northerly wind.  Clara washes AM.  Pay up Center & Johnson a/c 1.85  Tue attends Reception & c at Johnny Marshalls P.M.  Marie about same all day  Tue thinks no better at night.  Clara sewing P.M. to see Daisy at night  Self feeling badly.  Thought of quitting tobacco today  Mostly clear but not thawing much  Ground still covered with snow.  gobed 9 P.M.

16.  Wednesday.  5.30 AM.  Mostly clear.  white frost.  Milt helped  about logs today with horse and we get nearly two thousand feet cut and down hills.  Milt loads wood so as to start early tomorrow .  Riley Decker and old man have been burning brush this week and have nearly finished.  Gobed 9.30 PM.

Cloudy and signs of rain.  Decide to have Milt help today.  Cut walnut blocks and head up to house  boys cut red oak tops getting several good logs  Settle on site for  shed after dinner.  Leave Milt to put in gate posts west of house  start home about 4 PM with Frank Drake arriving about 6 P.M.  Find that Maggie has been sick all the week with  hives  Hat here to supper.  Business has been dull since I left on Monday morning.  Mostly cloudy day and warm  Gobed 10.30 PM ~

Mostly cloudy.  Milt brought up load of stove wood.  Warren finishes Coopers  8 cent and puts some on yard.  Milt took goats and kids down  He and Warren will haul logs tomorrow if they can get Comers wagon.  Drove out to Uncle John's P.M.  but didn't see him   got black pup at Shirleys  Trade dull.  Maggie had light chill, has one every day this week.   Newly had runaway at night while unharnessing.  Uncle John is building house on Hawkins place.  Fresbie doing work  go bed 10.30 PM.

Clear  Pleasant day.  Maggie had a chill but lighter than yesterday.  The gang was up and paid off.   Milt hauled load of wood to Anderson and got drunk leaving stable for home at 10 P.M.   Bought  52 bushels of oats of Jo Whelan @ 26 c.  Uncle John in town after lumber.  Trade good and one of best Saturday we have had.  Kelly worked most of day at house and store  Walk round after shutting up looking for Mat think he didn't go home.  gobed 11.30 PM

Cloudy northerly wind.  Went to Mattoon to see Irene about H.G. place but train too late to talk much got home 2 P.M. went out to Gaines to take rods for wagon  He has shucked  two loads today. finest.  Mrs. Owens washed A.M.  Saw Bert in Mattoon.  Tue fired Clyde Ashby A.M.  He was no count.  Buy two cords wood of Henry Newell @ 3.25  Tue about sick with her eye.  Thought of going for doctor at night  Gobed 8 P.M.

Clear very heavy white frost first hard frost.  Newell hauls the wood and settle with him.  J. Simons and Warren bring lumber for Weth & Hardin.  Geo Weyth pays 30.00 for bill of lumber to W.&H., all delivered in car here  Mrs. Owens irons  Tue in bed most of day and feeling very badly.    Don't milk but once per day now  Meet Emmet Balch up town AM  Gobed 8 PM

Clear Easterly wind.  Look for Newell AM for more wood but didn't find him.  Tue  feeling some better today.  I drove out to  Loxa P.M.   May not at home when I get there 2 P.M.  Jo Shucking corn has two hundred bushels shucked up to tonight.  Yield hardly as good as expected  They will take it at Loxa Saturday @70lb  H.G. and Hat here at night: first time in good while  clear day and slightly warmer.  Pick lot of string beans out at Gaines.  Simons not in today  Gobed 9 PM  Pay off Winter note at First Natt. Bank 211.58 using Renes check 200.00

Clear SE wind.  Buy another cord of wood of Newell.  Simons and Warren stop on way to Pophams with lumber.  Tue's eye better but she is still feeling very bad and wants to get a girl.  Corn selling for 30-70  Sent picture of her house to Rene in Oklahoma  Try to find some body to cut wood PM. but didn't.  Went to show at night taking Seph McClasky.  Gobed.  10.30 PM

Cloudy.  Sprinkles rain between 7 and 8.  Went with Myers to look at (?)'s sheep.  He asks 3.00 per head for them.  Base ball Terre Haute and Charleston (?).  Milt brought up posts.  Uncle John in town.  Hat was down in P.M.  she and Tue talk of going to Lerna tomorrow morning.  Paid Uncle John for corn bought last week $30.  Phebe cried with earache at night.  gobed 10.30 PM

Clear smokey haze Tue got up at 4.30 intended to take baby  but decided not to got to.  Girls and I got breakfast about 8.30.  Went down to  Spilters  in P.M. bought his sheep at 3.50 per 100 going to take them tomorrow morning.  (?) drummer  in town.  Tue got home at 10 PM.  Went down to train for her.  The girls do  the work today getting along first rate.  Milt Drake brought load of posts.  Gobed  10.30 PM~~

Clear Smokey haze.  got to Spilter's about 9 weigh sheep but decide not to take them down today.  Went from there to timber.  Have men pull all the burrs in pastures.  Enoch and old man chapping.  Frank Drake rode up to Spilters with me to stay all night and help about dark  Gobed 10.30 P.M.

Clear smokey hazy.  Paid Spilter for sheep 9006 lbs. @3 1/2 = 315.21, 82 head.  Trade not so good as usual .  Milt on the war path at night  started home at 9 PM.  Boys got sheep down alright.  Foreman pays me for posts $7.40.  Pleasant warm day, go to bed  9 P.M.

Clear .  McCravy works me early.  Tue and self started at 7.30 got to Milts 9.30.  Went down in hollow to fuel and eat dinner.  Warren Decker and Jo Handley came down, don't think they can afford to make any more posts on S. side.  Went home by Farmington Road.  Get a lot of pawpaws, they are not ripe yet though.   Gobed 9 PM.

Clear.  Mrs. R washes.  Uncle J to dinner.  Milt brings load 8 ft posts which puts back of stable.  settle with Warren Decker paying him 7.59 in full to date.  They are putting up poles for Electric  light on our street.  Maggie and Phebe went to river with Davis folks P.M.    O Weiss detained me at store after closing up.  Gobed 11 PM~
