Thursday,   July 18, 1912   5.40.  Ther  66.  86.  68.  = 73 1/3

Clear. N. Very heavy dew Oscar Lawyer came early for jag of kindling.  McNeel does nothing at furnace today.  It lies scattered about the premises handy for the junk boys.  I phone Harman that have gotten posts.  He is cutting hay.  I drove N. of town AM Much rain there yesterday roads very muddy.  Crops look well.  Talk with Dave Gray at Court House.  Tue got letter from Muggs.  Willie Parker was buried P.M.  I drove east late P.M.  But little rain east lately.  Everybody busy with hay and oats.  Mare scares badly at some hogs  -   no damage done.  Clear day with stiff northerly wind.  I took mare to Nickles.  Tue up town night.  Rhoda washed A.M.   Could not find Harvey Mc today, nothing doing with the furnace.  They are working for the road makers.  Gobed 9.30

Monday, July 18, 1887,  5.45  A.M.  Ther.  83. 103.  80.

Clear W. wind.  The gasoline stove was off this morning but we managed to get it started.  About as yesterday but more clouds and stronger wind from N.W.  some signs of rain, some showers in distance.  Wind changed to N. before sunset, very strong one.  Smith of Hutton ask for job of cutting cord wood.  Moore of Charleston called to buy wood.  The water  works have been shut off all day.  Davis girls here P.M.  to draw with M & P.  Spoke to H.G. about going to Mattoon or elsewhere,  Gobed 10 P.M.

Clear, S..  Old mare shows contact with barbed wire with deep scratch twelve inches long on rump.  Dr. it with spavin cure at once.  Things seem somewhat demoralized out in barnyard.  Think stray horse has been around at night.  Tue complaining gooddeal (sic.).  Think the hot weather.  Part cloudy with showers around.  .  Just sprinkle here.  Not many in for Sat.  Harve McNeel said would tighten up my furnace, but he didn't.  I try to find Ike Rogers but couldn't.  I drove SW late P.M.  finding no fungi.  Go bed 10 P.M.

Wednesday, July 6, 1887  6.30 A.M.  Ther.  73.  90.  76.  Clear.  Got John Hall and cul 317 ft. out of cull on City yard and will haul the rest to my own yard.  Noble gives me bill for 1500 ft. township lumber.  Mrs. Laind irons.  Collect $6.20  Scherer a/c.   Kate Davis over most of P.M.  Funkhouser of Neoga called at night to see about Timber.  Fan and Snider in awhile at night.  Wind N.E. P.M. signs of rain during day.  Thunder west at night but didn't rain any.  Buy cheese .15 and butter .40 all cr.  Gobed 10 P.M.
