Clear NE wind.  Drove with Tue and Marie out to Emmett Glasco place  getting a basket of  large lepiota,  L. Morgani Poison same as I thought made me sick several weeks ago.    Try some for dinner and no bad effects.  Father also ate more than self with no unpleasant effect  To day has been rather warm  The last lots of cecropias are spinning    Nine of the lots began Sat.  Trade rather quiet for Monday, clouds up toward night with some signs of rain but clear off.  Wind N.E.  Maggie spent night with Maunie Lang.  Gobed 1030

15.  Saturday 6:40 AM.  Ther  62.  77.  66.  =  68 1/3

Mostly cloudy. E. wind.  Over slept ourselves this A..M.  Drive up to timber getting fine mess of  A. abruplus.  Gave some to Bill Hill some to Nick   Jack Colby thinks Bill Decker will get money of home party to buy my land next week.  Saw Bill and he seems hopeful.  Very heavy thunder shower and rain 1 PM till 3 P.M.  I slept through most of it and did not get up town to get plows  left at Pugho for sharpen.   It cleared off toward night.  Jo Walton pays 50.00 rent up to Sept 10 check.  Drove with Tue around town awhile after dark.  Gobed  11.30 P.M.     [shorthand]

At the side of page:  Tue got card from Maggie  Says she and Hannah will go to Geneva Sunday.  They were at Niagara on Friday.  

November 1-3, 1890 and 1901

November 1890

1.  Saturday 7 AM.  Ther  33  60  50

Clear SW wind.  Warren and John here before I got up.  Went right to work at hog house and got sided and roof on by 3 PM.  Uncle John here to dinner. Gang up from timber and settle with most of them   Good many in town   and politics main talk on streets.  Dem com - strikes for money at night but got none   Tue not very well.  Clear or mostly so with SW or W wind light sprinkle rain about 10 Pm  Buy load of corn of Harvey Brown 16 10/70 bu.  $6.75  Good many fellows loaded tonight  Go bed  11.30 P.M.

2.  Sunday  8 AM.   Ther 49.

Clear W wind fresh.  Children went to SS Turie to church start to Ranch after dinner getting there before supper, cool raw day  with NW wind.  gobs  8 PM.

3.  Monday.  6 AM.  Ther.

Cloudy morning with NW wind spitting hominy snow.  John and I try to to lookout N and W lair near NW corner.  Rile and Johnny  beginning clearing on west line NW of west field have decided to fence the Fritz hollow.  Warren finishes  hauling out lumber from old mill sites  Start home about 2 P.M.  Try to get some squirrels and quail on road home but fail  Gobed 1030 ~~ 

November 1901

1.  Friday I took a walk North east to South getting very tired AM.  I got a rig at livery stable in afternoon and Mary and I drove  over  to "North west" on west shore, returning before night.  Close cloudy muggy day but not very warm. Self felt badly all day.

2.  Saturday.  Maria called before noon and took self and Aunt Maria around town a while.  Maria and Fahys left for New York P.M.  Raw NW windy day   We drove to Whitney's and up near Stand Pipe

3.  Sunday.  Bright pleasant cool day.  Got a rig till noon driving east of SH and over on neck for last time as intend to leave for Geneva tomorrow morning.  Charley drove with me PM going to ocean at Bridgehampton and afterward to Fahy's house on the neck.  Charley with dog call at night.  C & I return Bricklyn road.

26.  Sunday. 8 AM.  Ther  39.

Cloudy with fresh NW wind. rain last night barely laid the dust.  Tue sent up and got some oysters for dinner.  I start for ranch  about 3 PM getting there before dark  gloomy cloudy day with NW wind  Gobed 8 P.M.

26.  Saturday.  Clear and Cool Uncle Mark drove down to Geneva late AM. by way of Billsboro.  Stop at Newts.  He was not at home but saw John C at station  He forgot to call for me yesterday.  Arrived at Geneva Uncle M. and I eat at restaurant on Seneca St. about noon after which we drove up to Aunt Margarets staying an hour or so there after which he drove me over to Cynthias leaving me there.  I got first letter from home today.  Pick up things and leave for New York and Long Island  8.40 P.M. riding down in bus. which called for me.  Fare 10 c

25.  Saturday.  7 AM.  Ther  36.  63.  45.

 Cloudy and foggy. Wind SW Father fixes back fence.  Wash and fill bottles most of  forenoon H.G. has caught heavy cold.  Tue sewing on dresses for Maggie and Phebe.  Learn that Al Latta has bought the bottom lot opposite us.  Rile Easton brings up 42 posts settle with him full to date.  Good many people in town, trade fair.  Clear mostly  till noon with NE end PM more cloudy wind NW and sprinkle rain from 7 till 10 PM and grows much colder. Ther at 11 PM was 38 gobed 11 PM--

October 1901

25.  Friday.  Junior hitched up horse for me after breakfast and I  drove down to Matilda Holland.  Her son George who is on Keansarge left for New York last night.  I saw him yesterday.  I spent P.M. waiting for John C. to call for me and take me to Geneva which he failed to do.  Uncle Mark says he will go to G tomorrow and will take me.  Pleasant, cool.

Light white frost  clear with N.E. wind  John went over to rye patch east to repair fence.  I start home 10 30 getting there 1 oclock.  Arterburn hauling away walnut.  R. Eastin brings up load locust posts  John McCormick puts in large glass at the store.  Pay up Dr. Hellegass 4.65 for two glass.  Pd Geo Knock for repair Simoms gun.    Clear till P.M clouds up with SE wind and signs of rain got shave and hair cut tonight at John Mays  Roads are good  Measured up  Gruings Wood 3 1/2 "cord" wants 2 cd green, noq.  Gobed 10.30  PM~~

October 1901

21.  Mondaay.  5.30 AM.  Feeling better this morning and decided to start for Geneva at once  Start  SW Limited 7.24.  Pleasant but cool. arriving 11.20   Left valise &c at Depot and went up town  Ate dinner at Kirkwood.  Call on Aunt Mary 210 Lewis and Aunt Margaret 113 Lafayette Ave.  And meet Jim Wilkie on way down town.  Went home with him 218 Williams St after getting baggage from Depot, staying all night.

Mostly cloudy NE wind.  The strike on the T Sob aKC ended today.  Mrs. Rogers washed.  Phebe started to school.  The children all have bad colds.  Rec Geneva paper notice of death of Uncle Marks Mary on 18 (?)  Pay up Warren Decker for hauling wood.  Davis children and Miss Vaughn over at night.  gobed 12.30

Cloudy, wind S.E. gets in south and remains there fine mist most of  day and night  Dark and muddy.  Trade as good as could expect, better than last Saturday  Learn that Uncle John is sick and decide to go out there in morning if weather permits.  Drake did not come and John Simon's says he will be ready to move down there at anytime.  11P.M.

Clear southerly wind  Didn't get up town till nearly noon  Coony digging out pipes from main at store.  City has to stand part it  Pay Minton a/c 4.40 chk.  Clarence says Rob would take care of Phebe.  No word from her today.  Tue feeling badly all day  Clara ironing P.M.  Bill for  (?) (?) 6.65  Clear day South west wind  gobed 9 PM.

4.  Friday.  5.45 AM.  Ther.  22.  37.  36  =  31 2/3

Mostly clear with southerly wind.  Clara ironing  I went to Loxa A,M. getting there just in time for dinner  got home 1 P.M.  Tue went to R.C. at Marshall's  Clara went to dentist.  Lost large hazel cane which I thought much of must have got out of buggy along the road.  Mostly clear day Roads sloppy and quite muddy expect gravel.  Jo grubbing  gobed 10 PM.

Cloudy, Rain most of the day about as yesterday.  Learn that H.G. has gone to St. Louis intended to go myself.  Said to be immense crowd there.  Get sack Punles(?) flour at Hill $1.00.  Draw off lot of a/c in PM.  Tue irons some and intends to do it all this week.  Write another letter to H.C. Denary asking about friends at Geneva.  Gobed 9 PM.

Clear.  Baby better but cried a good deal in the night.  Phebe  fell on stairs this morning and hurt herself some.  Get letter from E.D. Davis saying needn't saw any more lumber at present. Letter from G.C. Dinsey, no butter at Geneva-  Bent was down to dinner.  Say, he has bought a farm up in Moultrie County.  Drove down to Young's but didn't see him.  Comer was in town but went out before I could see him.  Pleasant day.  No signs of rain.  Buy tomatoes 35c Decide to go to timber in morning.  go bed 9 P.M.
