16.  Sunday

Find Mrs. Eastin's old cat dead at barn this morning.  Ferd here while at night.

17.  Sunday, 6 AM.

Cloudy and snowing.  This is about the 24th "tracking" snow since the first in Dec 13th.  Marie is fifteen years old today and had several girls callers at night.  Self not feeling very well.  Tue has not heard from Maggie for nearly two weeks.  Self not feeling very well  Gobed  8.30 PM

18.  Tuesday.  6 AM.

Hannah was here most of P.M.  I sort through some photo trash P.M.  W.W. at the barn have frozen up everyday lately.  Cistern has been about dry for sometime.  N at night Self feeling badly.

19.  Wednesday

In yesterday Courier that Tom Tremble will go to Indianapolis in a week or so.  Has not paid rent due.--  Learn that Dan Tremble has moved out.  Tell Scott to rent the house.  Buy meat 55, pots 10  carrots 5 & Codfish 15  85 cts at Bantons.  Tue was up town P.M. with Mrs. Knock to Parkers opening.  Carlos Wing called to see about Cols. Place.  Mostly clear East wind.Girls all went coasting at night to Miles.

20.  Thursday

They are hauling  pipe for gas main on this street.  The girls coasting again tonight till late.  [Tue and Charles sick]

21.  Friday.  6 AM

Self about sick this morning.  Tue same.  I went up to Dr. Pattons office for medicine for Tue; he was not there.  Bert in town  and called awhile P.M. and called a while P.M.  Self and Tue both about sick.  Mostly clear day N.W. wind.  there is several inches of ice and snow on ground some of which has been there since Dec. 14.  Gobed  8 PM.

22.  Saturday

Wing calls AM to see about renting HG house.  I was busy and didn't see him.    Gave him the keys P.M.  Was about sick all day and got meddy for self and Tue of Dr. Patton.

23.  Sunday 7 AM.  Ther  30.  40.  36.  =  35 1/3
Tue kills one of her big roosters.  I spent much time looking over seed and fruit tree lists today.  I don't feel any better.  

24.  Monday
Wing and Sal McClasky still talking about trading for H.G. house.  Johnson and Melville take job of cleaning out privy  back of store for 3.00    Phebe went to ball at night with Geo Davis and stayed all night with Hannah

25.  Tuesday
Get barrel which make watering tub in barnyard.  Overhaul west room old house P.M. find boys  have taken all the old brass also saw.  Henry Heagan calls AM.  Self feeling badly but worked good deal today.

26.  Wednesday 
Went up to Marshall's office to get leases written. He advises me to write  them myself.  

27.  Thursday
Cloudy and raining which began about 10 last night.  The back street so bad Mrs. Bell has to go  round by sidewalk to milk our cow. It rained much of day from SE blowing into Attic windows and soaking through into Miss Ford's rooms.   Bert here on political biz and stays to dinner.  

28.  Friday
Al Latta  has his farm and his property across the street.  Tue attends Reading Circle P.M.

12.  Wednesday.  6.15 AM.  Ther.  10. 20. 12. = 14
Clear. N.W.2.  Tue got up rather late.  Rhoda washed in afternoon.  Tue attends "white" sale at Parkers P.M.  We get a long letter from Buddy.  She is somewhat alarmed about scarlet fever  in their neighborhood but all well.  Ray feeds last of corn and hay to mare at night.  Cliff phones that will bring feed tomorrow.  Preston is moving out today up to Fairgrange.  Tue went to library at night taking Magazine forgotten by Phebe about coldest day to date most clear Northerly wind 8.30

13.  Thursday.  6.30.  Ther.   6.  30.  22. =19 1/3
Clear. S.3.  I scrape up enough for mare breakfast.  Helen calls AM and Tue pays egg bill 2.10 ck.  Tue and self finish novel Woman in White.  I  got tired reading it.  Expected  Harman in with some feed today.  Didn't hear from him.  Sent mare  up to Nickles stable at night for a day or so.  Another  cold day barely thawing at any time.  Clear day barely thawing at any time.  Clear day with moderate southerly wind.  Gobed 9

14.  Friday.  6.30 A.M.  Ther. 22.  46.  36. =342/3
Clear, S.2.  Pump in cellir(sic) clogged with snails and roots.  Clean it out it out A.M.  Harman phones noon that will be in with hay &c if possible.  Says hie expected tenant for house backed out and * Had piece for dinner.  Tue to R.C. 2 P.M. at Jo Reats.  Shave self P.M. ~~  Harman came 4 P.M. bringing me 4 b hay 1.92, 4 b.  straw  .75, 2 bu oats .60 and about 5 bu corn from my own crib.  We settle to date far as possible.  NW ditch 16.00 and fence 4.00 feed 3.27.  pay check 23.27.  Ray went up for mare.  Preston still at farm.  They are trying to arrange so that he will remain there.  the ground is generally bare where exposed to the sun.  Clear day moderate southerly wind.  Go bed 8.30

Friday, 5.30  A.M.  Ther.  50.  80.  66
Clear, E.1. A, Preacher is moving  in house back of us he owns.  Get start Loxa 9 AM or later went through and pretty well over farm.  Harman's crops look about as well as the neighbors.  P&P not there.  They  have done nothing for two weeks.  Cliff has clipped much of oat stubble.  the clover looks well.  The thins places pretty good.  Have fine stand on most of 62 acres sown.  Haas cut NW 8 acres supposedly for seed.  I drove from W. to BC shed could not get round so return round field and visit shed from S.  Saw no one but Mrs. Binge.  Did not get out at premises.  Gather peck or so grapes SW house on fence Drove down through Loxa seeing Hogg and CHJ.  Return S. road and home before 2 PM did not eat dinner which took.  Drove to Parkers toward night.  Didn't  see him.  Tue at Groves night.  Mostly clear.  Light southerly wind with light whirlwinds.  The roads are good and quite dusty in places.  Gobed 8.30

Clear, N.E.  We need furnace this weather, but no signs of getting it.  I drove over to Parkers AM.  Wants me to go out Monday, have decided to tear down the old shop in Loxa.    I hunt for Harvey every chance I get.  Today ends the Chautauqua for this year.   It has been pretty good weather.  Maggie got home 7 P.M.  she has been away since Jany 12 last.  Have fire in grate all day.  Mostly clear, light N.E. wind.  Mare at home.  Gobed 9.30

Mostly clear, haze, N.1.  Tue and I get start for Loxa 7.30 A.M.  Went via Loxa.  Tue stops to talk with Mrs. West.  I stop at store.  Charley had not yet received R.H.  will do so at once.  Harman's crops don't show up gilt edged.  He was just starting to help JO Linder thresh.  Tue called on Mrs. Burge.  We start home 10.30 going out front.  We drove N. to town line ny Glassco Road then E. to JB Hill Road.  There is  much weedy corn and B.C.  We got  home say 12.30.  Jack did not go.I drove over to Parkers P.M.  Says will not go out till Thursday.  I drove over to Anderson later.  Learn that Kate has gone to Mo to visit sister.  Frank's folks are quarantined with scarlet fever which they have just taken.  Hael Record called collecting P.M.  Fair day with light variable winds, lightning in S. at night.  Tue spent evening at the Rocks.  Phebe out with Fan.  Self rheumatic today.  McNeel has moved shop to corner of Adams and 7th.  Go bed 9.30.

Saturday, July 30, 1887    6 A,M ,  Ther.  78.  105.  84.

About clear, smokey or hazey.  Uncle John down to dinner,.  The mare  which  got hurt  died today.  Mrs. Linder  red(?) the Linder Farm sold to Uncle John last summer.  Tell  Uncle John he can have a(?)  buggy.  Commer in town. The Narrow Guage recd. part of lumber Friday culling considerably.  Went down  to RR with Comer toward night.  May Johnson and Davis children here at night.  This has been warmest day in six years,  Go bed 11 P.M.  Some cloudy P.M.  Clear til about noon.

Clear, SW. 2.  Harman phones that will be in after poles today.  Tue and I decide before breakfast that we would go to Loxa today, but give it up later.  She gets Alford to work a while.  Went and got fork at Fritz's and then over to Parker's.  Meanwhile Harmon came for poles.  I didn't see him.  No word from McNeels today, but I observe they have vacated their old shop.  I drove over to Parkers again PM.  He and (?) will go out to place tomorrow or soon.  Take mare to Nickles at night.  Phebe went down to Ora's.  Tue over at Grove's.  Mostly clear day, moderate variable winds settling northerly.  Go bed 9.30.

Clear.   The girls go to take drawing lessons .  Drive with mare till nearly noon.  Went after the girls. Mrs. Chanceller didn't come to iron as agreed and Tue  undertakes to do it herself.    Ike Miles fears Uncle John's mare will not recover.  Al Crass cleans out cistern PM.  Young says he will pay me some money on rent next week.  Some clouds PM. and looked a little like rain, wind,  variable.  Some lightning at night.  One of the oppressive days we have had.  Tue and Phebe slept down stairs til midnight.  Go bed 10 PM

Tuesday, June 11, 1912, 6.30 A.M.  Ther. 56.  84.  68.  = 69 1/3

Mostly clear. S.E.2.  I drove to Andrews getting 30 ft. ridge for barn but decide too hot for me to drive out P.M.  I drove down by Parkers P.M.  Drove out by Latta's.  People very busy with their corn now.  I met Parker on Division on his way home from Loxa.  He reports Harman planting his B.C. today.  He and Plew will finish by noon tomorrow.  Grove's are better but have not been over yet.  Kate has not appeared  again.  Mostly clear SE 2.  Go bed 9 P.M.

Foggy early but clears off W.S.G. and self went up to Chiltons after hedge, morn and evening.  Uncle John in town.  He went down to lumber pile with me.  Comer says will do better with lumber -- saw it more even.  Kate Davis here to supper.  Tue and self  drive a while after which  Tue and self drive a while after dark.  After which Tue was with me to store to feed worms.  The worms down home have been doing pretty well, but those at store badly, to hot.  Warren Decker brought load of wood - probably.  Got jar of butter 7 1/2 lb. at creamery.  Go bed 9.30 P.M.
