5.  Tuesday.  7AM.  Ther  18.  27.  23.  =  22 2/3

Cloudy E. wind.  Enloe took another small load of lumber and paid me for all.  Maurice Burgner has got his 500 posts and will pay me soon.  Tue went to Dick Norfolks funeral P.M. He died yesterday at house here.  Brownfield straightened up posts after dinner.  have on hand 165  Many of them culls.  I put up roosts for hens in the hog pen and Tue and self caught them and put them in there after supper. I fell and hurt my foot so could hardly get around.  We have 37 hens and roosters and 4 ducks.  Cloudy day E wind AM moving gradually around toward N. a little NNE at night and very light fine snow after 9 P.M barely covering the ground.  My foot hurt so I had chill about 10PM.  Gobed midnight.

5. Monday.  6 AM  Ther.  25. 28.  25  =  26

Cloudy, N wind.  Maggie gets ready and starts for Champaign on 11.15 train.  About 3 in. heavy snow on ground.  It fell in night probably after midnight.   Nick Smith says Garrison sold out and purchaser again sold but I have not verified report.  Mostly cloudy day with NW wind.  Phebe sick at night self about sick.  Quitting use of tobacco feels worse than usual.  Snow remains on ground.  This snow was exactly like one a week ago.  Gobed 9 PM

December 4 - 14, 1888 in Coles County Illinois

4.  Tuesday.   Tue felt badly all night  Has caught (?) cold.  Girls and I get most of breakfast.  Tue sick all day.  Sent  for Dr. at noon didn't come.  Sent again at night  came and left medicine.  Tue begins sending pt. of milk per day to Mrs. Jim Robertson.

5.  Wednesday.  Tue better today.

6.  Thursday.  Tue is thirty two years old today. I sprained my left knee very bad today and could hardly get around.  Tue much better today and is round at work again.  

7.  Friday.  Hat was down toward night.

8.  Saturday.  Chowning working at stalls and dirt inside.

9.  Sunday.  Tue and Phebe went over to Perrills after dinner.  Maggie to Davis  Phebe not very well.

10.  Monday.  Pay Blankenboken ice bill for last summer 2.70.

11.  Tuesday.  

12.  Wednesday.  

13.  Thursday.  Uncle John was down to dinner.  Came in after  cow he got of Dowling.  

14.  Friday.  There was a man killed by cars here today.

February 1- 4, 1913 in Charleston, IL

1.  Saturday,  5 AM.  Ther. 4.  20.  12. = 12
Clear, NW.3. Swf.  We had big fires till midnight and nothing froze up.  the postman has been missing us a few mornings, coming about noon.  Harman called brings some serapple (sic), tying his  horse in barn.   Tue and Phebe having much trouble with Phebe's dress.  Order bale hay I.B.  Phebe going to Chicago Monday morn.  Too cold for me to get out.  Am getting lazy.  We are  eating too much , am billious (sic).  Phebe and Fern went to show.  Gobed 9

2.  Sunday.  6.30 A.M.  Ther. 12.  34.  28. = 24 2/3
Clear, S1.  wh. fr.  Lower W.C. supply frozen till 10 A.M. but no damage apparent.  We failed to fire up good at bedtime.  Tue gets up 8.30.  Phebe later.  I work at W.C. til 10.  Fell in dining R. hurting self slightly, foot caught in fringe.  Tue got letter from Kate yest. first for long time.  The church bells rang 6 AM.  Phebe and Turie attend church AM.  I shave self A.M.  The Groves were over late afternoon.  They went home before dark.  Phebe packing her trunk in E. chamber.  She went to depot for ticket and had her trunk taken to station and checked.  Ora here at night; they expect to take 5.25 car to Mat. in morn and will reach Chicago before noon.  Cloudy P.M. and snow about 5 P.M. continuing till night about 5. in. fell.  Gobed 9.30 P.M.

3.  Monday, 4.15 A.M.  Ther.  28.  38.  20. = 28 2/3
Cloudy N.1.I got up earlu a/c Phebe.  She left at 5.15.whilst I was eating breakfast.  Expecting to meet Ora at Interurban station.  The snow last night was from the south.  It seemed a long morning to me.  I fed mare at 8 oc.  I did not shovel path.  The snow measures 5 in. Precipitation .40.  The hay ordered poor quality.  John Abbot calls AM hunting for work for later.  He didn't want to shovel snow today.  Roy clears away some of snow at night.  This is the first snow of any note this winter.  Mostly cloudy day with light northerly winds.  Clearing at night.  Gobed 9.

4.  Tuesday  5.30  AM.  Ther.  10.  32.  20. = 20 2/3
Part cloudy N.W.1.  W.C. frozen up again this morn, until say 9 AM.  Tue gets letters from Maggie and Phebe.  Phebe got to Chicago 10.30 A.M. yest.  I recently had letter from Kate Bacon.  Tue writing letters all P.M.  Gov. Dunne was inaugurated yesterday.  Helen Hildreth and friend call P.M.  Mostly clear day with light northwesterly wind, too cold to move the snow.  Tue visited the library a while after supper.  Has been one of the coldest days.  Gobed.9.
