29. Wednesday. Schools closed today. Commencement exercises at City Hall at night.
30. Thursday. Girls have fixed them a bed in the hall where they slept last night. There was no decoration tonight here today it will probably be put off until Sunday.
31. Friday. Flood at Johnstown, Pa tonight drowning many thousand people.
June 1889
1. Saturday. River high.
2. Sunday. River very high and racing.
3. Monday. Baby sick all night. Milt came up with mare. Bought log chair at Sodderts 1.50.
4. Tuesday. Tue buys children some hats Mullens. Alarm of fire factory ( Weies') about 10.30 PM. Maggie was sick all day has caught cold.
5. Wednesday. Kate Myers and Mort Grove were married tonight. Tue went.
6. Thursday. Roads very rough. River not fordable.
7. Friday. I made a lot of walnut pills today. Creek higher than at anytime for a year or two. Nick and I did not start home till nearly midnight on account of rains.
8. Saturday. River said to be nearly up to the pumps. Moderate rains tonight.
9. Sunday. 7 AM. Ther. 66. 66. 59. = 63 2/3
Cloudy S.W. wind. Cloudy all day with W or NW wind. Light sprinkles rain several times was up at store till noon. Mamie Lang over most of PM. Tue gets mess strawberries from our vines. Gobed 10 PM

Cloudy N.W. wind. Sprinkle rain two or three times during day. Bottle 22 HG bals Blue Fick. Get lumber for shed back of store.Jake Calhuren says it has rained since Friday morning 3.91 inches. The river is within a foot or two of the fires at water works. Dark cloudy day wind NW, clear night. 12.00
