10. Wednesday.  4.45 AM.  Ther.  74.  98.  82. =  84 2/3
Part cloudy S.W.1.  Emma helps Tue AM. wash windows etc.  The smaller Warman children spend much of AM here much to Tue's disgust and mine.  Normal out today and Helen Hildreth leaves some things here till next term.  We get letter from Phebe P.M. with  note.   She is in Jeff City with Muggs for a visit.  This proved to be one of our hottest days.  I  keep  pretty quiet and then very uncomfortable.  I drove out as Cemetery late P.M.  I met Harman up town.  I got  home 7 P.M.  The Mortys came over, also Julia.  Harman up about 8 P and stays till nearly 10 Oc. "Settles" in full last years rent  check $72.00  Mostly  clear quite cloudy about 1 PM. with thunder five miles south.  Gobed 10 P.M.

Mostly clear. S.2.  Tue  irons all AM.  Deposit Harman ck  72.00 at 2d.  Get shave at Browns pd.  The Normal School closes today and the people are going home.  Drive E and SE late PM. call in for ice cream and bread.  About our warmest day part cloudy wind becoming N.  Tue  over at Groves night, gobed 9.30  Order "frame" through Nick.  Carrier took letter  (?)

12.  Friday. 6 AM.  Ther.  74.  84.  74.  = 77 1/3
Cloudy light rain which began 2 AM, wind N.1.  Craigs BC warehouse burned early morn (2AM).  Pay O.T. Ryan feed bill 4.40 I start out to find junk Cooper but did not .  Met Rog Bennett and take him.  Says  Ray is in Courier office.  I saw Laura and her children.  On way home came near running over a baby 12th and Madison Sts.  Tue ironing AM.  P.M. drive up by John Hills and Stodderts.  Ss new alfalfa 40 has about 20 acres of my old friend the bull nettle.    Much cloudy today sprinkle several times, but didn't lay dust.  Roads very dusty.  Corn not growing much.  Much of  crop is less than a foot high.  Some oats are heading out.  Some pieces of wheat are being cut.  Wheat is  good.  Wind N. to easterly  Gobed 9.30

Clear.  Wind NW Wrote White telling him (?) take 38 cents for my ties but would not sell any culls.  Sold Adam 20 posts @6c.  Collect rent from Gr bro for month 40.00, draw 10.00 from firm.  Try to clear out sewer W.C. at home but fail.  Pay  up MCennell ind. and  Co a/es.  Pay Heilbing for repair log chain.  Hazy day.  11.30 PM.

12.   Wednesday. 7 AM.  Ther. 65.  76.  60.  =  64.
Clear.   Pay Frommell 1.05  Popham 1.45  Ed Doughty at 1.35.  Jo Clark 25 all in full.  Paid  Uncle  John 100.00 borrowed from him last month.  Trade fair.  Several drummers in town.  Pleasant day and warmer wind SW.   Learn that men in timber expect to  finish fence Friday.  Gobed 11 PM.

  1. my Aunt's diaries also said how hot it was. Just like now when Eastern lets out they all go home and the town in quiet!
