29. The schools let out today. The high school had a big show at theater tonight.
30. Saturday. We went out to Cemetery . Many people out there early. There has been a big steamship wreck on St. Laurence The "Empress of Ireland" lost in collision over a thousand reported drowned.
The memorial parade will be tomorrow. Will not be able to participate.
31. Sunday. The boys get started at ball playing , but quit at Tues request.
June 1914
1. Monday. Dan McCarty is putting fixtures for jewelry Store in the Monroe room next to my old stand.
2. Tuesday. This birthday biz is becoming monotonous. Phebe sent me a pocket book.
3. Wednesday. The State meet of G.A.R. is going on at Mattoon with large attendance. Tomorrow is a their big day.
4. Thursday. Mrs. John Abbott died yesterday.
5. Friday. The encampment elected Bishop Fallows Commander State GAR this AM. Learn Tom Threlkeld died this morning.
6. Saturday. Tue puts in much of day, cleaning house and ironing. She broke electric iron. I made three trips to plant to repair it. The Warman kids are annoying us some.
7. Sunday. Tom Threlkeld funeral 2 P.M. Lost my specs. Old mare made break getting bridle tangled with shafts.
8. Monday. Tue cleaning in dining room. Moves her ice box into pantry and gets ice in it for fish. Morty came over and did the carpentry work. He also put up Phebe's swing on porch. The alarm of fire about 3 PM in S part of town. It would serious time for fire to get started every thing is day as powder.
9. Tuesday. 4.30 AM. Ther. 72. 98. 84. = 84 2/3
clear S.2. Jones phones Duggins is about move out of Loxa house. I spent morn tying up old papers for junk. Helen called with butter and eggs. Pay her a/c in full except today ch. 4.15 Mrs. W. Gro calls to see Tue. Emma quit at noon. Tue rests P.M. I drove E of town down by Sain Stevens Lane; got to warm. Crops look better than one would expect with such weather. Today the warmest to date. Pick up Alfred Smith on road. Get IC at Teeples which was all for sup. Tue over to Julia Kenayers at night. Lightining round at night. Mostly clear day with brisk southwesterly winds Gobed 10P
