16 Tuesday, 6 AM. Ther. 67. 88. 71.
Mostly clear. They are selling hitching posts round public square. Sir Comer in forenoon. Think he will soon fix up his mill. Talk with Newt Calhoun a while about carpenter work made a pudding PM which was not a success. Took drive alone after supper round town. Mare got scared at cars on narrow gauge and I nearly had a runaway but got her under control after she had run a few rods. Pretty badly frightened myself. Mostly clear day but cloudy after dark. Light rain in night at 12 and after. Go bed 10 P.M.
Charles Gramesly's Journal was written from 1878 to 1925. I am his Great-granddaughter and I post entries from the journal from 114 and 125 years ago. The journal is about everyday living in Charleston & Coles County Illinois. It is not just about the Gramesly family, it is about the community, the region and the issues on all levels that touch their lives. Many people are mentioned in this journal. Join me as I explore history written by my Great-grandfather . . .
