May 6, 1912 &1887 in Charleston, Illinois

100 Years Ago

May 6, 1912, Monday  5.00 AM. Ther. 60, 82, 64 = 68 2/3  Mostly clear S.2.  Forgot to turn out mare last night.  Tue left the basement lights burning  last night.  I hitch up and drive up by Stodderts.  Dirt roads are very muddy.  Think had shower north in night.  I examine Stoddert pasture for fungi - nothing doing.  Tue and Ellen clean "den" today.  It takes all day.  Saw and talk with Majre at her home.  No R Herald to day afc of strike~  Tue wrote to Buddy.  Mrs. Eagleston comes and stays the night.  She will return to Seymore, Ind. tomorrow.  Much cloudy but no rain, although threatening at times.They have finished tearing down the old McKinley house near fire Hall.  I observe that Glassco's  have not moved their brick on Perkin's lot.  Tue  strained herself cleaning house and felt badly after go to bed.  She says will let Ellen go Saturday.

May 6, 1887,   Friday,   6.30 AM.  Ther. 54, 70   Cloudy, sun came out A.M.  Showry day, heavy rain about noon.  H.G. quits and gives up the keys.  Get George Weber to help me now till license expires which will be next Monday.  My horse weighed 900 lbs. Buy lot of mushrooms of Geo Morderal.  The council last night appointed H.G. Superintendent of Streets, Jack Frat city Marshall.  The girls went to Cad Raerdins birthday party in P.M.  Gobed 11 P.M.
