Clear N.E. 2.  Tue feeling bad this morn.  I kept up mare last night on account of the rain.  Jack has flavored up the whole farm  with  his carrion.  Get mare shod at Hostler's, old shoes all round.  Pd cash.  Get some bread at Fausts~  Tue and Ellen work all day at old S R carpet getting it patched and laid.  Some cloudy P.M. threatens rain P.M. wind N.W.  I drove S. by Woodson.  Saw one party planting corn S.W. town_ the first I have seen.  Came through Wrightsville stop at store.  Mrs. Hibbard calls P.M.  Tue got letter from Buddy.  Gobed 10

125 Years Ago

Monday, May 9, 1887  6.30 Ther 68, 85,65  Clear, This is the last day of License, Trade rather dull except in larger lots.  Took Gnass in afternoon and deliver considerable stuff.  Very few people in town.  Delia washes.  Warm pleasant day.    Cross gets off  and fails me get Bounce Chauceller to finish   A few days more would finish all the stock I have on hand.  Shut up for last time and go home.*  Gobed 12 Midnight.

*This must be the end of the tavern that Charles and his brother owned.
