May 19, 1912 and 1987 In Charleston, Illinois

Sunday, May 19, 1912.  6AM. Ther.  56,84,70. = 70
Clear SW.2 . Get another rat.  I try to make corn bread for breakfast with poor success.  Tue to church AM.   I got R.H. the first we have been able to get for two weeks; then drove to timber E. where I read awhile returning home about noon.  I feel very drowsy even for me; No appetite.  Toward night I drove SW a mile or two getting in before dark.  Tue went over to Mrs. Grove's who took another treatment today.  She complains of feeling better.  Mostly clear day with fresh S.S.W. wind.  Some dirt roads very rough.  Roads mush traveled getting dusty.  Locust trees in bloom.  People are getting in work on their corn.  Tue got a Special Delivery letter from Buddy this morning.  Walter has a chance now to locate in Charleston.  Gobed 10 P.M.  Cr: trap big rat, makes 7 within weak.

125 Years Ago

Thursday, May 19, 1887,  6 AM.  Ther. 58,80?, 65.  About clear.  Were all up to breakfast this morning - something unusual.  Tue and Delia clean front room.  Shau Hart whitewashes front room and hall.  They get the carpet down and everything about washed up.  Ed Wright hauls me a large load of old straw to put on my berry patch $1.25  The silkworms are getting to be a great deal of trouble.  Big  seening party went to river this P.M.  Go bed 10.30 PM.
