October 18, 1890 and October 17- 18 1901 in Charleston, IL

Due to a death in the family I have not been able to post. I am starting regular posts from these dates.  If  you were following something and I left you hanging send me a comment and I will try to look it up for you.   Catherine

October 1890

18.  Saturday, 6.30 AM.  Ther  44
Clear with SW wind shifting to west before noon and NW before night  turning much cooler and cloudy most of P.M. very heavy wind most of the day.  Comer in town settle with him and buy 59 old switch ties from him for 10.00  Hutton Township pays up $8.16  Sell Manifold  1/2 cd wood.  Uncle John brings me a bushel of rye.  Very disagreeable day on account of the heavy wind.  Tue complaining of neuralgia  Gobed at midnight

October 1901 

Charles starts on trip to New York

17.  Thursday  6.15 AM  Ther 38  
Mostly clear North wind.  Get ready and start for  N.Y. 324 train.  Left Dick sawing wood  Phebe took me to train.  Street fair in Terre Haute today.  Train behind time all the way.  Cold raw day and night.  Didn't sleep  car no heat arrive Buffalo 8 AM.

18.  Friday.  Arrive Buffalo hour or so late.  Didn't want any breakfast.  Went out to Pan American grounds returning late P.M  Getting very cold and tired.  Cold raw day NW. wind, clear.  Put up at Hotel Columbia not far from Central  Depot and retired about 6 P.M.                                     


19.  Saturday.  Buffalo day today at P.A. and decide not to attend Exposition today.  Threatening weather, light rain about 10 AM.  Went to Niagara about 10 AM. by trolley, remain all day.  Return to Columbia about dark very tired and retire early.
