July 13- 24, 1901 Highlights in Coles County IL

July 1901 (Highlights)

13.  Saturday - Start to Loxa, taking Marie to Ora's to stay a day or two.

Monday morning get home 1 P.M.  The drouth has hurt crops very much out west but they are all right here for a while.  Maggie going to work at Jenkins Monday.
Drive down to Normal with Tue after supper.  They are paving 7th no pave laid yet.  

14. Sunday - Dora Hildreth called at Hen's place.  Tue was sick all night. Marie and Helen remain at Loxa.

15.  Monday - Intended to go to Loxa but too late and too hot to start. Ed Miller fixing surveying line for sidewalk on west side 5th street.  Makes my line on 5th street 3 ft. west of his first survey.  Rainbow 4 to 5 PM, first rain since July 3.  C.H. clock not strike for Sundays.

16.  Tuesday  Tue (still) feeling badly.  They are building concrete sidewalks on many streets in town.  

17.  Wednesday

18.  Thursday - Dick . . .clears out tank in attic.  Tank leaks.  Have to borrow pair shafts at Berkleys on account.

19.  Friday - Phebe up early to get ready for picnic.  They have finished  side walk W. side 5th Street.  Decide to have new side put in broken shafts.  Have been using the borrowed from Berkley.

20.  Saturday - Phebe's friend, Etta Van (?) comes from Chicago.

21.  Sunday - Henry Stoddert died suddenly this morning.  This is the hottest day I have record of (102).  

22.  Monday - Ther  73.  106.  82.
Henry Stoddert was buried today.  Warmest day on record here 106 in shade, 1 PM to 3 PM  96 at 6 PM.  Good breeze much of time.

23.  Tuesday- Go to Loxa.

24.  Wednesday - 105
