October 1889

10.  Thursday.  7 AM.  Ther  50.  76.  56.  
Clear.  Mullany  & Hayes drummer here.  Start for timber at 9.30 did not not go, Stop at Wade Halls sale and stay till nearly night.  buy big spotted sow for 13.80. and stay till nearly night, Billy Bishop rode home with me  Milt - Drake up without any wood broke down yesterday  Warm pleasant day  gobed 11 P.M.

10.  Wednesday 4 AM.  Ther  39  70  58 =  55 2/3
Clear Went out to creek where Jo was gubbing  Mrs. Gains on sick list Start home 11 AM.  Thought some of going to Mattoon Street Fair which began yesterday.  Tue feeling badly.  Charley Popham gives me  bill for 3100 feet lumber.  Simons up  with lumber and will be up tomorrrow.  Ferd here at night  Mostly clear some cloudy, P.M.  Gobed.
