November 25 - 29, 1913 in Coles County Illinois

25.  Tuesday 6 AM.  Ther. 42.  54.  48.  =  48
Most Cloudy.  S.2.  tue ironing AM.  I drove down to Miller's before noon.  Nobody in sight.  Mr.  & Mrs. Bell remain about the same.  I got home about noon and did not drive any more.    Big Minstral show at theatre at night.  Al  G. Fields.

The opera people use our billboards and we ought to have tickets.  Frances Bowes Sayre marries President Wilson's daughter Jessie at 4.30 PM. today.

I have been looking his pedigree in The Sayre Genealogy today.  Cloudy  day moderate southerly winds.  I slept in den till 10 P.M.  Several showers in night.  R.(.25)

26.  Wednesday.  6 AM.  Ther.  46.  56.  52.  =  51 1/3
Cloudy S.2.  Phone for "same" to  J.E. Mc which got 4 PM.  I hitch up AM getting grub.  Tue kills one of her trio of roosters and I suspect a function tomorrow.   She has invited H. and H.  Alfred did chores and will appear again Saturday P.M.  Tue was over at Grove's PM.  They are in trouble about east line of their place where building is being built.  Dark cloudy day: light S to SE wind mist on light fog.  The  streets some sloppy but don't think rain enough for mud in roads.   Jack had one of his old time filo in kitchen this morning.  I officiated.   go bed 9.30

27.  Thursday. 6.30 AM.  Ther.  50.  58.  54.  = 54.
Cloudy, light fog S.1.  Henry and Hat came soon after 9 am. and stay to dinner and all P.M.  I hitch up but did not drive any until after 4 P.M. when drove down to J.A.  Miller's.  Nobody at home as usual.    Not an unpleasant day for Thanksgiving.  Mostly cloudy dirt roads also gravel quite muddy.  Fungi seem to be starting within last few days.  Mr. and Mrs. Bell remain about the  same.  Some foggy at night with rain in night.  I spent evening reading about the operas and go bed 10 PM.  R (.38)

28.  Friday. 6.30 AM.  Ther.  56.  66.  60.  = 60 2/3
Cloudy, foggy S.2.  Mist.  The S.E. door was unlocked last night.  Shave self A.M. having tedious time of it.  Tue got letter from letter from Mugg's  yesterday AM.  Phebe has written Muggs that will remain at Havana two weeks longer thand (sic)  intended on account of sickness in employers family.  I  notice several promising mushrooms starting in bed.  I hitch up about noon.  I took  Tue  to reading circle meet at Fulton's return by 4th St. did  not drive any more.  Dark day with light fog at times wind S. to E. light rains toward night and showers later in night: no thunder all roads except pavement quite muddy.  Gobed 8.30  R 53. to 7 AM.

29.  Saturday.  6 AM.  Ther.  58.  62.  58.  =  59 1/3
Cloudy. E.2.  Light rain.  Meas. for yest to 7 AM. see yest.  the rain so far not affected streams much which are still running low.  Our yard has been sprinkled with dandalions.  Tue  over to Bells.  Mrs. B reported no better.  Haraman phones will be in to settle up corn to date.  He came at 2.30 P.M.  Pays me  three checks (Linder) 72.60.  McC & Linder 142.40 and his own for 123.20 for my share corn taken by him.  His corn is yielding somewhat better than expected.  This settlement is for 1204 bu from over 40 acres.  He has about 40 still to report from.    He  and Blanch go home just at dark.  Tue was up town with  Ollie P.M.  Later she went over to Brooks' staying till 9 P.M.  Dark damp day with light fog and mist E. or SE winds   Gobed 9.30  Alfred didn't  come to chore as agreed.
