Cloudy, S.5. there was strong wind all night with lightning at 4 AM. Ray came but did not do much. It began to rain about 8 with high showers for an hour or two. I make general clean up of dishes some of which have not seen water for many months. Everything seems to be getting stale. My bread for breakfast was not a success. Helen sent me a loaf of good P.M. Remit check for E. Lights for March 2.58. Mostly cloudy day, occasional light showers (.10). Strong southerly wind. Didn't hitch up go bed 8.30 P.M. Plant tomatoes in pan.
4. Friday 5.30. Ther. 48. 44. 42. = 43 2/3 Feb. Geographic came. Cloudy S.W.5. Ray came but began to raining before he finishes chores so let him go to come tomorrow. No letters from Tue but got Mt. C. (2) papers. A disagreeable day and growing colder all time. I had to make fire in furnace. High S.W. to N.W. winds with light rain several times. I made pot of mush P.M. and try my hand on doughnuts they were no good. Mostly cloudy. Anderson Walton died last night. Mort Grove was over little while toward night. Gobed 8.30
5. Saturday. 5.30 AM. Ther. 34 58. 50. = 47 1/3
Clear. N.W. 2. light white frost Ray came First set him to raking off garden &c. Phone IElllc for C.C. sauce.early. Think ground to heavy to make garden. Fix pie plant. Trim Trim some scattering trees. Ray quit at 4 P.M. He does very well; charges 10 per hr. Pay him in full to date. No word from any body today. I drove up and got C.O. toward night. Went to Dorschs, some mutton and liver. Mostly clear day with light , N.W. wind. Ray will come Monday morning and work the day if I need him. Gobed 8.30 Self feel rather poorly.
6. Sunday. 5.30. Ther. 40. 60. 50. = 50.
Mostly cloudy. N.E.2. My mutton was pretty good for breakfast I walk up for R.H. Hitch up later and after taking lunch drive S. and S.W. Pass Woodson place on Kickapoo. John Armstrong pushed me up the steep hill near Mt. of school and near had a runaway. We had gang in large auto. I turn south at S.H. to avoid him and drove as far as Kings and and down to near river. Mare very nervous or would have gone farther. The river seemed about half up to bank fall. Met L.E. Barnes and Co. right there mare made bad break but everything held together. I left at 2.30 P.M. getting home 5 P.M. The roads are dry but mostly pretty rough except gravel. Boys on library all day, baseball. Mostly clear day with fresh N.E. Gobed 8.30
