March 16-17, 1888 in Charleston, Illinois

1888

16.  Friday.  6.45 AM.  Ther.  42.  50.  38.  
Partly clear but clouds up and begins to rain at 8 AM.  Phebe not very well and don't tell let her go to school.  Finish up list of trees &c. to send for to Storrs  & Harrison Co.  11.90.  See Bob Browns wife up town she wants to  rent my house in timber.  Tue is doing her own ironing this week.  Get jar of lard and a ham at C. Mason.  He settles up for  wood and dray.  Fix latch on front gate.  Find that most of Snyder Blackberries in bottom dead.  Rained an hour or two AM pleasant P.M.  Gobed 9.30 P.M.

17.  Saturday.  6 AM.  Ther.  34.  50.  42.
Mostly cloudy.  Mostly pleasant day with sprinkle of rain two or three times.  Get shaved and hair cut in morn.  Tried to make a small battery, failed.   Girls  pick up some stuff (?) yard.  Sow paragon tomato seed in hot bed.  Modual and Gailfod  speak to me in regard to running for assessor.  Paid up  F. Moffet settling up of Bbl. of apples he bought of me.  Caylon pays me 2.50 for wood sold.  Get Abbot to straighten up wood in yard.  There is about 8 cord.  H.G. down at night, went up town with him.  Baby about sick with cold.  Go bed 10 P.M.
