Cloudy.  S.3.  Tue gets new boy to chore.  Proves to be Roger Bennett's son Roy.  Buddy and Charles put in day getting ready to start for Mt. Carmel which they do on the 3.14 P.M.  Big Four train.  Grace called to see Buddy, but too late.  Phebe went with Marie to train.  Pleasant day with fresh southerly wind.  Gobed 9.

1887

9.  Monday, 6.30  A.M.  Ther.  23.  32.  .28
Cloudy wind easterly.  Part of coffee mill  in kitchen.  Maggie and Ph. went to school.  Phebe does not seem to feel  very well.   One of R. Davis cattle fell and broke his neck.  Got a letter form Mrs. Davis,  Berlin  stating that Uncle George was not expected live more than two or three days.  Mrs. E. Eastin called a minute P.M.  There was a fight this  P.M. between two women.  Comer was in town:  told him I didn't want to cut any timber south of Big Hollow.  He wants me to get hands and pile the tiles now down at R.R.  Phebe came home sick.  Send for Dr. Patton after supper.  Chilly, cloudy day wind mostly northeast.  Gobed  10 P.M.
