One light frost on 30th Weeds and all vegetation have made a great growth. New clover is best for years There has been little complaint of a poor catch I sowed about 62 acres with oats. There is not an acre of the whole missing corn stands up straight and even late pieces are ripening. The frost on 30 touched the corn but little else. Trees mostly retain their green leaves. There are no fungi in woods non have them been many the season. Have had a few campestries from barn. The fruit crop is light but of fair quality. Have noted none pecked as yet.
Charles Gramesly's Journal was written from 1878 to 1925. I am his Great-granddaughter and I post entries from the journal from 114 and 125 years ago. The journal is about everyday living in Charleston & Coles County Illinois. It is not just about the Gramesly family, it is about the community, the region and the issues on all levels that touch their lives. Many people are mentioned in this journal. Join me as I explore history written by my Great-grandfather . . .
