Sunday, July 17, 1887 6 A.M. Ther. 84. 103. 84.
Clear pleasant breeze from W. Last night was terribly hot. They all slept on floor but self. Take shower bath from hydrant in morning. Fresh west wind all day. This has been decidedly the hottest and dryest (sic) day this summer or any summer since '81. Kate Davis over in P.M. Fan and family came just as we were going to bed and stayed an hour or two. There was a good deal of lightening in N.W. at night but the cloud was not visible. Sultry night. Bed 10.30.
