Cloudy, N.E.2. Thunder with light rain 3 AM. Dark morning till 8oc. I hitch up slowly. Old buggy about worn out. I drive up town and to P.O. They are putting foundation for a monument N.W. cor. of court yard ` Phebe did not get up to breakfast. Her cold not much better. Her trunk came today. I drove S. P.M. round by Hen's* bottom. Tue and Phebe both out at night. H.G.** calls with Ben Spence I had not seen Ben for many years. He lives in Indianapolis. Part cloudy day with light variable winds. The rain early A.M. only about .03 Go bed 10.30 P.M.

Tuesday, May 24, 1887 6.15 AM. Ther 69, 80, 66
Clear. Started down to Comer's Mill about 9 AM. to talk over the (?) got home at 1.30 PM. Heavy shower with wind and thunder about 2 PM. Tue sets out some tomato plants. Delia irons. Gave bid to Fooke for City lumber @ $1.50. Comer says he will pull up at once and go down to timber. Went to Ed Wiley's hedge for Osage after supper. Deffenbach pays $1.oo Gobed 9.45 PM.


The monument is the soldier memorial! My GGrandfather was the County Clerk at the time and his name is listed on the monument!
